Hawley Bennett |
|
Hawley Bennett grew up on a hobby farm and was involved with the 4-H Horse Club and the Grove and Langley Pony Club throughout her childhood, and, like countless other little girls out there, dreamed of riding in the Olympics one day. By the age of 16, she’d competed through training level with her Arabian gelding Ibn, but a truly remarkable new partnership was about to begin. In 1994, Hawley met Livingstone, a 4-year-old off-the-track Canadian Thoroughbred gelding bred by Dr. Anderson of Langley, BC. The diminutive young rider and the gangly young horse “just clicked,” and four years later, following a 4th place finish at the North American Young Riders’ Championship, Hawley, then just 21, was named to the Canadian Eventing Team Long List.
In 2005, the fairytale continued when Hawley and Livingstone traveled to Sweden place 15th in the FEI World Cup Final. In 2007, they accomplished yet another goal by successfully completing the Badminton CCI**** in England. And in 2008, Hawley and Livingstone competed at Rolex for their fourth time with yet another clean cross-country. Hawley and Hank’s incredible partnership and their remarkable record together wouldn’t have been possible without the support of an amazing team of friends and family. Her mother, Gerry Bennett, first coach and mentor, Pamela Arthur, long-time friend and mentor, Buck Davidson, were steadfast supporters of Hawley’s dreams. And despite being raised in the cold and rainy climes of British Columbia, Hawley has always been the quintessential California kid, so in 2004, she forged out on her own at Terry and Linda Paine’s KingsWay Farm in Temecula. Now fully established as one of the top upper-level riders and trainers in Southern California, Hawley is fostering a whole new community of young and young-at-heart eventers. No matter their backgrounds or goals, Hawley is committed to giving other hard-working riders like herself a proverbial leg up! Hawley would also like to extend an enormous THANK YOU to all of the people in her stable and her life who have made her success possible: Top two photo credits: Shannon Brinkman |

Birthplace: Langley, British Columbia
In 2002, Hawley and Livingstone, a.k.a. “Hank,” finished 14th at the CCI*** Fair Hill International and the following year, they enjoyed a clear cross-country performance at the prestigious Rolex Kentucky CCI****. In the fall of 2003, they were members of the Silver Medal Team at the 2003 Pan American Eventing Championships, and Hawley’s Olympic dreams became a reality when she and Livingstone represented the Canadian Equestrian Team in Athens, Greece, the following year.
At 19 years old, Hank is still relishing upper-level competition, but Hawley is also bringing up a string of young horses, including Gin and Juice, SplendoroftheSun, Miracle Save, Canadian Spy and Amstel. And outside the barn, Hawley and her husband Gamal are enjoying their first year as newlyweds, and consider every member of the Hawley Bennett Eventing team to be family, both in the barn and out.
